Purpose of this programme

BASIC PHOTOGRAPHY course is aimed at amateur photographers with entrepreneurial and professional photography skills so as to eradicate the scourge of youth unemployment in South Africa.

Happy Modise a renowned journalist and photographer will teach you the basics of your camera & the basics of photography in very simple terms – No technical Jargon, but in a simple & easy to understand way.

It’s a morning course which runs twice a week over 4 sessions of 3 hours each – It will be held at the Kenako Jwale Skills Development training studios in partnership with Ezweni News South Africa, it’s facilitated on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9am – 12am.

It also accommodates individuals that have a DSLR camera and want to learn how to get the most out of it – The classes are small and friendly .

The facilitator will assist you in gaining confidence with your camera so that you can capture memorable moments in such a way that you won’t fumble around.

You will get a clear understanding of the art of photography and learn how to unlock your DSLR camera’s potential.

Course Content:

  • Basics of your Camera layout & what each dial does.
  • The Basic fundamentals of Photography
  • Key Elements of Exposure (How ISO, Aperture and Shutter
  • Speed work together)
  • Light Metering
  • Focusing & Depth of Field
  • Different types of lenses and what they do
  • Composition
  • Basics of Flash photography

Course Duration:

  • 12 weeks course
  • 20 students per class
  • Wednesday and Thursday: 9.00am -12.00am
  • Saturday: 9.30am to 14.30pm
  • Entrepreneurial Development  (compulsory and included with the course).

Prerequisite:

Students must be a minimum of 18 years of age or over at the starting date of the course.
